Rectangle or square
Tablecloth length = tabletop length + twice the desired drop. Tablecloth width = tabletop width + twice the desired drop.
Round
Tablecloth diameter = tabletop diameter + twice the desired drop. A 20–30 cm (8–12 in) drop is a relaxed styling suggestion, rather than a required fit.
